The employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tbilisi Police Department, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department and Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Departments, as a result of complex operational-search measures and investigative activities conducted at different times in Tbilisi and the regions, detained 10 people for drug crimes, including 4 drug dealers.
R.A. (DoB 1952), I.A. (DoB 1961), previously convicted G.K. (DoB 1983), and several times convicted J. Ch., (DoB 1988) were arrested on charges of illegal selling of narcotic drugs.
ZN, (DoB 1983), G.D. (DoB 1987), and L.A. (DoB1988) are accused of illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs. A.O. - a citizen of a foreign country born in 2002, is also arrested on charges of illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic drugs, while G.D. (DoB 1974), and N.T. - a citizen of Ukraine, born in 1981 was arrested at Kutaisi International Airport for the illegal purchase and storage of a large amount of narcotics and illegal importation to Georgia.
The committed crime envisions from 5 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
On the basis of the judge's ruling, the law enforcement officers made control purchases of drugs from persons arrested on the charge of illegal possession of drugs several times and made secret audio-video recording of the process. The police seized the narcotic drugs illegally sold by the detainees as evidence, as well as the money obtained as a result of illegal drug dealing.
As a result of search activities held in detainees’ residential houses and personal search, various types of narcotics were seized as evidence, including: more than 1 kilogram of "heroin", 45 packages of "methadone", "suboxin", "Alpha PVP", as well as a particularly large amount of "Cocaine" and "Methadone".
Investigation into the facts of illegal purchase-storage-possession selling and illegal import of narcotic drugs into Georgia is in progress in accordance with Article 260, Parts III, V, VI, VII, as well as Article 262 Part IV of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
