Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained 12 persons and 11 persons have been exposed for 14 cases of robbery and attempted robbery in Tbilisi, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Kakheti, Guria and Adjara for the last 1 week. As a result of intensive police operation, two facts of robbery have been prevented.
Officers of Akhaltsikhe Regional Division of Samtskhe-Javakheti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, arrested G.K – D.o.B.: 1991 - in Akhaltsikhe for theft; the crime committed by him envisages the term of imprisonment up to 3 years.
The investigation found that the defendant had stolen seven grave doors and fence aluminum details from the cemetery in the village of Tatanisi in Akhaltsikhe municipality and then fled from the scene.
Law enforcers seized the stolen items as evidences. Detainee admitted his guilt. Investigation is underway on the fact of theft.
In addition, the officers of Guria Police Department prevented the robbery of the paybox in Batumi as a result of intensive operative measures. The officers of Batumi City Division of Adjara Police Department and Lanchkhuti Regional Division exposed 4 persons on the fact of robbery and attempted robbery as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities.
V.K – D.o.B.: 1997, G.G – D.o.B.: 1997, A.M - D.o.B.: 2000 and N.B - D.o.B.: 2000 are exposed on the fact of offenses, which envisages up to 3 years of imprisonment.
The investigation found that the exposed persons stole 220 GEL from the paybox in Zhordania Street, Lanchkhuti and fled from the scene. The same night, in the village of Grigoleti in Lanchkhuti the above mentioned persons attempted to rob the paybox again but failed to do so. They left the tool of the crime at the scene – crowbar, which was seized by the police as evidence. The next day they attempted to commit similar crime in Batumi, when the police exposed them. All four individuals admitted their guilt.
Investigation is underway on the fact of theft and attempted theft with a prior agreement by a group, which caused significant damage.
