In connection with the “Blood Donors International Day” the award ceremony was held for supporter organizations and unselfish donation at L. Sakhvarelidze Disease Control and National Center for Public Health.
At the awards ceremony head of the Center Amiran Gamkrelidze expressed his gratitude towards the Ministry of Internal Affairs for safe bloodf and unselfish blood donation on the regular basis and handed certificate of appreciation to the Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department- Mikheil Buzaladze.
Under the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, employees of the agency donate blood for children suffering from Leukemia since 2012. Ministry of Internal Affairs concluded memorandum with Iashvili Children’s Clinic's Blood Bank which launched “Donate Blood Save Life” project, involving all MIA units across the country. In three years period hundreds of policemen took part in the project. Ministry will further continue blood donation across the country.
On June 14 “Blood Donors International Day” is marked each year worldwide, aimed at raising awareness among citizens with regard to safe blood and importance of blood donation. On June 14 donor recipients and whole society express gratitude towards those people who volunteer to donate blood without any financial interest. State program “Safe Blood” under the slogan “Tanks for Saving My Life” is still operational at the moment.
