On the World Blood Donor Day the awarding ceremony of the gratuitous donors and supporting organizations was held in the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health. The Ministry of Internal Affairs was awarded for gratuitous donation of blood.
Mr. Amiran Gamkrelidze, the Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health awarded the Minister of Internal Affairs with the letter of commendation for gratuitous donation in absentia and expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for participation in the campaign. The awarding ceremony was attended by Mr. Mikheil Buzaladze, the Deputy Director of the Patrol Police Department.
By the initiative of the Minister of Internal Affairs already for two years the employees of the Ministry gratuitously donate blood to the children suffering from leukemia. Within the scopes of the Memorandum executed by and between the MoIA and M.Iashvili Clinic the campaign “Donate Blood – Save the Lives” of the “Blood Bank” is held in the different subunits of the Ministry in Tbilisi as well as in all regions of Georgia. Hundreds of police officers took part in the campaign for the period of two years. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will continue to participate in the campaign designed for gratuitous donation of blood in the future throughout the country.
“World Blood Donor Day” is selebrated on 14 June every year, serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.
