On the 14th anniversary of the Russian-Georgian war of August 2008, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, along with his deputies, laid a wreath at the memorial of the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who sacrificed their lives while serving for homeland.
In the courtyard of the Ministry, the memorial of the policemen who died for the unity of Georgia was decorated with flowers. Heads of various departments also paid their respects to the memory of heroes of 2008 war.
14 years ago, in August 2008, during the war between Russia and Georgia, 14 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and 5 employees of the Coast Guard were killed. According to the decision of Vakhtang Gomelauri, children and families of the deceased employees were provided with material assistance.
