The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vakhtang Gomelauri paid an official visit to Riga, to attend Joint EU and Eastern Partnership Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Meeting. During the meetings following issues were discussed: management of migratory flows, reforms in law enforcement, judicial aspects of terrorism, personal data protection.
Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri also hold bilateral meeting with Minister of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus Socratis Hasikos, Federal Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Austria Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Minister of Interior of Finland Paivi Rasanen, Federal Minister of Interior of Germany Thomas Maiziere, Minister of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus Ionas Nicolaou, State Secretary of the Kingdom of Netherlands Fredrik Teeven, Vice Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Belgium Jan Jambon, Minister of Internal Security of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Etienne Schneider, Minister of Internal Administration Anabela Rodrigues, Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Poland Piotr Stachanczyk. During the bilateral meetings parties discussed the support of Georgia in euro-integration process and cooperation in fight against crime.
The Delegation presented a brief on reforms implemented within the Ministry in terms of EU integration. Georgian delegation, headed by the Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri, consisted of the Deputy Minister Archil Talakvadze and the Director of International Relations Department Shalva Kvinikhidze.
It is noteworthy, that the first Joint EU and Eastern Partnership Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Meeting was held last year in Luxembourg and the Ministry was represented by the Minister of Internal Affairs Irakli Garibashvili, nowadays the Prime Minister of Georgia.
