Ministry of Internal Affairs along with Environment and Natural Recourses protection and Finance Ministries has signed memorandum of understanding. The memorandum was signed by Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, Minister of Environment and Natural Recourses protection Gigla Abulashvili and Minister of Finance Nodar Khaduri. The document is focused on: improvement and development of the ecological environment, the protection of flora and fauna and creation of favorable conditions for the development of ecotourism in the country.
According to the document the agencies will implement joint measures defined by the law to make quick response and prevent illegal fishing and hunting.
Each incoming call on violation of fishing and hunting regulations, defined by the Code of Administrative Offences of Georgia, received through the hot line of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Recourses protection is urgently transferred to the “112” service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for making quick response.
Information on violation of fishing and hunting regulations is also received by the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance in case of having any signs of Tax Code violation (Transportation without invoice and etc.).
Agencies with the aim to make quick response and prevent violation of fishing and hunting regulations, as defined by the Code of Administrative Offences, will implement joint activities within their competencies in full compliance with the law.
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs- “This memorandum has a huge importance. We have been cooperating with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Recourses Protection in this direction. This is very important; illegal cutting of the trees as well as hunting and fishing is a violation which causes harm to our country, rivers within, local flora and fauna. Upon the receipt of the signal at 112 service and at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Recourses, on any kind of violation and unlicensed activities causing harm to the environment, quick response will be made by the relevant unit closer to the site. This will be either MIA unit or employees of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Recourses Protection and thus such cases will be strictly monitored.
