Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze is in Dariali gorge and heading crises management staff in accordance with instructions of the Prime-Minister. Minister viewed search and rescue operations as well as cleanup activities held in the gorge.
Today employees of MIA Emergency Situations Management Department have recovered another truck caught in the debris of the landslide. At this moment road cleaning activities are being held in various directions in Dariali gorge with heavy machinery. Rescuers are also conducting search activities of other trucks caught in debris.
Under the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs several watch towers were established in the Dariali Gorge, located on highest points of the gorge. From the highest point of the gorge border guards are monitoring the zone of disaster and will inform on any danger to the patrol police officers, and MIA rescuers stationed in the watch towers by means of radio connection in order to withdraw heavy machinery and evacuate personnel from the place of disaster.
