Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, participated in the discussion of the 6th periodic report of Georgia within the frames of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
On February 8 of the current year, at the 84th session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the 6th periodic report of Georgia on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women was discussed.
The Georgian delegation was led by the Prime Minister's Advisor on Human Rights Protection, Niko Tatulashvili. The delegation included representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial authorities.
At the mentioned discussion, the Ministry of Internal Affairs was represented by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze.
The Georgian side provided comprehensive information to the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women on important legislative and institutional reforms implemented at the national level during the reporting period.
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs drew attention to the effective steps taken by the Ministry, serving the fight against violence against women and gender-based violence.
Within the framework of the discussion, the Georgian delegation also provided answers to the questions of the committee members on the issues related to the implementation of the Convention.
Members of the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women are independent experts monitoring the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women at the national level by the state parties.
