The final meeting of the Steering Committee of the EU-funded project - "Improving Quality of Prosecution and Criminal Investigation in Georgia" was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksander Darakhvelidze took part in the final meeting of the Steering Committee. The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of successful implementation of the project and highlighted directions supported by the EU-funded project. "I would like to emphasize that the project has significantly supported the strengthening of the capacity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the successful implementation of the reform process at various stages. Among the activities carried out within the project, I would like to highlight important issues: promoting of Intelligence Led Policing, Investigation methods, Evaluation of the investigation process, Promoting Investigative Reform, Crime Scene Investigation, Capacity building of the MIA Academy, Production of crime statistics, strategic communications, disciplinary proceedings and more”- mentioned Darakhvelidze.
At the online meeting members of the Steering Committee summerized the results achieved within the project in recent years.
The distance meeting was also attended by the representatives of the EU delegation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and the State Inspector’s Service.
The project has been implemented in close cooperation with the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia since 2016. The aim of the project is to support, coordinate and monitor the reform of the criminal justice system, as well as to facilitate the reform process in the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in accordance with international standards and obligations.
