Representatives of various units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia participated in the interagency seminar - "National Response Framework of Georgia" organized by the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).
The closing ceremony of the training was attended by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Ioseb Chelidze, the United States Ambassador to Georgia - Kelly Degnan, the Deputy Head of the State Security Service, Giga Nikolaishvili, and the heads of various agencies, who presented the participants with certificates confirming the successful completion of the course.
In addition to the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, the State Security Service, the National Security Council and the Ministry of Finance also participated in the seminar.
The five-day exercise was held within the framework of the DTRA Central Security and Cooperation Program (CSCEP) and was aimed at improving inter-agency coordination mechanisms during emergency situations, sharing American experience on incident response, risk assessment and related procedures. The training was led by American experts invited by the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).
Within the framework of the training, the participants discussed such important issues as: the role and responsibilities of emergency response agencies, organizational models of emergency management, large-scale incident management, improvement of inter-agency coordination, etc.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has been actively cooperating with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) of the US Department of Defense for many years in the direction of improving the capabilities of response teams to cyber incidents. With the active support of the agency, a number of projects were implemented, which provided for the development of the infrastructure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, technical equipment and improvement of employees' abilities.
