Delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs which was headed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Levan Izoria visited Munich, Germany on April 23 where he attended “The G7 Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction” working meeting under the invitation of United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Center (UNICRI) and German side.
Along with other issues Georgia’s successful experience in elaboration of CBRN National Action Plan was also discussed at the above mentioned event. It is notable that Georgia is the first country within “Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centers of Excellence” of European Union to have elaborated and endorsed the mentioned document.
Georgia is in the process of developing as an international partnership center in the field of CBRN. Beginning from 2013 “Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centers of Excellence” Tbilisi regional secretariat successfully operates at MIA Academy, uniting 9 states of south Caucasus and South-East Europe. In 2014 Georgia hosted “World Congress on CBRN Science and Consequence Management” for the first time as well as International Workshop on Regional Stability in February, 2015. Georgia closely cooperates with EU member states, United States, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), NATO and OSCE in the mentioned field.
Various countries have already expressed eagerness to share Georgia’s experience and even more, to receive assistance from Georgia in the mentioned field for elaboration of the National Action Plan.
