The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze held a meeting with the representatives and field experts of the European Union within the framework of the EU-funded project – “Advancing Reforms in the Justice Sector (Technical Assistance)”. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the future cooperation plans and got acquainted with the objectives of the project. Aleksandre Darakhvelidze provided the experts with the updates on recent reforms implemented within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and reiterated the importance of the EU assistance in this area.
The project is scheduled to start in October 2023 and aims to support Georgia in advancing reforms in the justice sector in accordance with the EU-Georgia Association Agreement Agenda.
The aforementioned project will be implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice and Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia.
The project envisages support for further development of criminal justice sector interagency coordination, crime related data collection and analysis systems, full-fledged community-oriented policing as well as prevention of crimes against vulnerable groups, gender-based violence and domestic violence.
