Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze attended solemn ceremony dedicated to the veterans. Within the frames of the event it was stated that “Veterans’ Park” will be arranged in the nearest future. On October 17, 2015 “Veterans’ Park” will be opened with the support of Tbilisi city hall. In memory of soldiers fallen during the fight for the territorial integrity 4000 trees will be planted in the mentioned area.
The gathered guests plated trees on today during the event, which was also joined by the Minister of Internal Affairs who planted tree in memory of Jiuli Shartava who died during the fight for Georgia’s territorial integrity. Guests were addressed by the Director of the State Service for the Veterans’ Affairs Irakli Shikhiashvili and Tbilisi Major Davit Narmania. The event was attended by the representatives of the above mentioned service, Tbilisi Major, family members of the fallen soldiers as representatives from the Parliament and Patriarchate of Georgia.
Under the initiative of the State Service for the Veterans’ Affairs October 17 was announced as a day dedicated to the war veterans. The decision was made in connection with the inaction of the law on veterans on October 17, 1995.
