Vice Premier, Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Giorgi Gakharia left for Zugdidi after the ceremony of oath of the military servicemen on Freedom Square in Tbilisi on the Independence Day. The Minister personally hosted local citizens and the guests of the city at the events organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Zugdidi on the Freedom Square.
“It is a great honor for us to congratulate with the 100th anniversary of the independence of the first Republic of Georgia from Zugdidi, Samegrelo. This region, like other regions contributed many victims to Georgia's independence. We tried to provide maximum comfort for the locals of Zugdidi and Samegrelo to feel the great day that we celebrate here today.
We also paid great attention to the symbolic factor: we are very close to Abkhazia. This celebration, this event is an extra effort for us, because we all have to work together and fight more and more in order to integrate Abkazia and the whole Georgia in the possible reasonable terms.
Actually, we have done all these and the goal of the event – in addition to the celebration of this great event - is to make our bridges of trust even closer to our citizens, trust bridges, especially, to young people and children who are having fun here today. These are the children who have to join the ranks of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense; this is the generation that will live in united Georgia” – Mr. Giorgi Gakharia, the Minister of Internal Affairs declared.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia hosts the citizens in Samegrelo, Zugdidi Main Square within the framework of the unified ceremonial event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Georgia. The visitors have the opportunity to familiarize with the last 100 years of Georgia's history in the area divided into 3 functional zones during the whole day. The events organized by the Ministry started at 11:00 in Zugdidi and will be finished by the gala concert late last night.
