Informational-Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to publish monthly results and presents statistic data on foreign visitors entering Georgia for January, 2014. In January of 2014 319 499 visitors crossed Georgian State border. To compare recent results with the same period of the previous year the number of visitors has increased by 14,1%.
In accordance with recently activated gradation scale the results are as follows:
A) Tourist - 122 714 visits (increase of the total number has reached 39% to compare recent results with the previous year, when the number of visitors has increased by 16, 6 %);
B) Transit - 53 241 visits (increase of the total number has reached 16,6%, to compare recent results with the previous year when the number of visitors has increased by 67%);
C) Other - 143 544 visits (increase of the total number has reached 45%, to compare recent results with the previous year when the number of visitors has increased by 0,5%).
In January of 2014 the most number of visitors has crossed Georgian state border from Turkey (- 13.6%) Azerbaijan (+21,1%) Armenia (+44,9%) Russian Federation (+54,9%) Ukraine (+72,3%) and Iran (-17%). Similar positive tendency is preserved in connection with countries of European Union, where the number of tourists from Poland, Italy, Latvia has substantially increased, reaching 163%, 16%, 14% respectively. Number of tourists from middle Asia, namely from Kazakhstan has increased by 31%, while the number of tourists from Israel has reached 15%. Number of tourists from Eastern Europe, namely from Belarus and Moldova has also increased by 48% and 23% respectively.
