Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Archil Talakvadze attended the presentation of the two-volume edition- “Secret History of Georgia” which was held at the exhibition hall of the National Library of the Georgian Parliament.
Presentation was also attended by Rector of MIA Academy Nukri Gelashvili, director of the MIA Archive Omar Tushurashvili, Deputy Chief of the mission of the Czech Republic Veronika Shido, representatives of the diplomatic corps, director of the National Library Giorgi Kekelidze, historian Otar Janelidze, explorers, writers, representatives of non-governmental organizations and etc. Guests were addressed with a welcoming speech by Deputy Minister Archil Talakvadze, director of the MIA Archive Omar Tushurashvili, historian Otar janelidze, Deputy Chief of the mission of the Czech Republic Veronika Shido and director of the National Library Giorgi Kekelidze.
Bilingual book was based on materials stored at Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Owning to the high interest it was decided to publish documentation stored in the archive in the form of the two-volume book. MIA Archive publishes bilingual magazine “Archival Bulletin” which is based on unique materials stored at the archive. In the mentioned publication country’s history of the last century is described without any alterations and portrayed clearly. Readers will be acquainted with those twists and turns which developed in Georgia in 1921-1989 years, including sovietizaton of the country, large-scale repressions, destruction of Georgian genetic recourses and best part of the Georgian intellectuals, fight against Georgian Orthodox Church.
At the event film based on documentary materials “Secret History of the Soviet Georgia” was presented as well as banners made on the basis of the archive materials.
