Mirian Chelidze, (DoB 1975), an investigator of the investigation unit under Ambrolauri police division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was buried with military honors.
Mirian Chelidze was protecting the public order in the course of search operation in the disaster zone, when he felt unwell and died on the way to the hospital.
The policeman who died in the line of duty was escorted on the last path by the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs - Shalva Bedoidze, Deputy Ministers - Giorgi Butkhuzi, Ioseb Chelidze, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, leadership of various departments of the Agency as well as by Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, representatives of the local government, colleagues and relatives of the deceased policeman.
The honor guard paid tribute to the memory of the deceased with volley salute. After the ceremony the family of the late officer was presented with the state flag of Georgia.
