The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized 10 illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi, Adjara, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Kakheti regions as a result of various operative-investigative measures and investigative activities.
The officers of Vake-Saburtalo Police Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department arrested two persons - formerly convicted in the past, on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition - M.J. (DoB1978), and I.A. (DoB 1994) in Tbilisi at different times.
During the personal search of M.J.'s apartment and personal search, the law enforcement officers seized a pistol, a magazine and 8 cartridges as evidence, while during the personal search of the second detainee – I.A. "Nagan" type firearm and 6 ammunition cartridges were seized.
The officers of the Detectives Division of Adjara Police Department arrested B.G. (DoB 1993) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. Police seized Makarov pistol, a magazine and eight ammunition cartridges as evidence during the search of the accused's home.
Several times convicted in past K.S. (DoB 1983) was currently detained on charges of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition by the employees of the same department. Policemen seized firearm and 7 ammunition cartridges as evidence as a result of the personal search.
The officers of Zugdidi, Senaki, Martvili and Mestia regional divisions of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department, as a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative activities, at different times detained four persons - O.Ch. (DoB 1968), B.A. (DoB 1977), V.P. (DoB 1961) and several times convicted in past Z.K. (DoB 1973). They are accused of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
The law enforcers, as a result of Z.K.'s personal search, seized an automatic firearm, 2 magazines and 60 cartridges. As a result of search activities of O.Ch.'s house, an automatic firearm, a magazine and 3 cartridges were detected. Police seized a pistol and 6 cartridges during the search of B.A’s place of residence. Police seized an automatic firearm and 127 cartridges as evidence from V.P's residence.
The officers of Kakheti Police Department detained L.F. (DoB 1989) and L.G. (DoB 2000) as a result of operative and investigative activities carried out together with the Border Police. The mentioned persons were detained in Lagodekhi Municipality on charges of illegal purchase-storage-carrying and illegal hunting. During the personal search of the accused persons, the police seized firearms as evidence.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The facts of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition as well as illegal hunting are investigated under Article 236, Parts III and IV, as well as Article 301 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
