The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative activities, recently seized illegal firearms, as well as illegal ammunition in Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Guria regions and arrested 3 people.
The officers of Gori District Division of Shida Kartli Police Department detained previously convicted L.V. (DoB 1980) on charges of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition. Automatic firearms, 14 magazines and 441 cartridges were seized as evidence.
The officers of Dusheti District Division of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department detained I.K. (DoB 1983) on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. During the search of the detainee's house, the law enforcers seized an automatic firearm, 2 magazines and 20 cartridges as evidence.
Formerly convicted G.B. (DoB 1999) was arrested by the Lanchkhuti and Ozurgeti Police divisions of Guria Police Department for illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition. Police seized a Browning pistol and ammunition as a result of his personal search.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition are being investigated under Article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
