As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 3 people for organizing, leading and participating in gang violence.
L.J., (DoB 2004), has been arrested on charges of organizing and leading gang violence, while G.T., (DoB 1971), and R.K. (DoB 1998), are charged with participating in gang violence.
The committed crimes envision up to 9 years of imprisonment.
As a result of the conducted investigative actions, it was established that the defendants committed violent acts in a group during the ongoing protests on Rustaveli Avenue, resisted and disobeyed law enforcement officers at the scene to maintain order, and threw various objects in their direction.
The investigation into the fact is underway under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 225 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The facts of organizing, leading or participating in group violence, publicly calling for violent actions, as well as preparing an explosion, attacking the police and damaging property during the protests on Rustaveli Avenue, are being investigated under Articles 225, 239, 187, 353 and 18-229 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
26 people have been detained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as part of the investigation.
