Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili visited Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli regional divisions of the Department for the Protection of Pipelines.
The mentioned divisions of the Department for the Protection of Pipelines ensure the protection and security of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and the South Caucasus Gas Pipeline.
Mgebrishvili along with the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs-Merab Malania and director of the Department for the Protection of Pipelines- Zurab Tchabashvili visited Tsikhejvari unit as well as, checkpoints located on Tabatskhuri and Tskhratskaro passes, got acquainted with technological novelties and scheduled infrastructural projects and met with the personnel.

It ensures the safe operation of the strategic energy corridor and its infrastructure on the territory of our country and the duties of this department are performed successfully and honestly over the years. Their hard work contributed to the fact that Georgia is now a reliable, strategic transit country, making it a subject of significant international projects. I would like to thank every employee of the Strategic Pipeline Protection Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which, despite the difficult geographical and climatic conditions, serves the homeland, "-said Giorgi Mgbrishvili.
Minister of Internal Affairs also visited regional bases of the department, as well as room for storing arms, sports hall, garage, residential buildings, special and mountain equipment. Giorgi Mgebrishvili also got acquainted with the digital video-surveillance system installed on the mentioned base.
