International Bureau of Narcotics and Law-enforcement (INL) of the US State Department granted special tactical equipment to Special Tasks Department of Special and Emergency Measures Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The ceremony was held at Tbilisi Special Tasks Division Base of the above mentioned Department. From the side of the Ministry, the document confirming the reception of the equipment was signed by the director of Special Tasks Department, Colonel Konstantine Makharashvili, while from the US side, the document was signed by the US Embassy’s representative, namely by Senior Advisor of International Bureau for Anti-corruption and Law Enforcing Programs -Michael Turner.
Special Tasks Department of Special and Emergency Measures Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been actively cooperating with International Bureau of Narcotics and Law-enforcement (INL) already for two years. Under the organization of INL, Special Tasks Division employees have undergone trainings in different spheres: mass management, negotiations during crisis situations, course on the fight against crime and management. During the event sides also discussed ongoing joint projects, outlined their importance in developing effective mechanisms for the fight against crime and reviewed future plans of cooperation. By the end of the event director of Special Tasks Division once again expressed gratitude to representatives of US embassy’s INL program on behalf of the Ministry for the offered assistance and support.
