Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia participated in an inter-agency training on cybercrime investigations related to weapons of mass destruction, organized by the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). Instructors from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) together with other international experts led the training.
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Alexander Darakhvelidze, the U.S Ambassador to Georgia - Kelly C. Degnan, the Deputy Minister of Justice – Akaki Sagirashvili, and the First Deputy Minister of State Security Service attended the closing ceremony of the training and awarded certificates to participants. In addition to the employees of the MIA, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice and the State Security Service participated in the training.
The participants discussed topics such as: weapons of mass destruction and cyber threats, preservation of digital evidence, retrieving information from open sources, mobile device investigation techniques etc.
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) actively cooperates with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and supports U.S. Embassy Tbilisi objectives such as Euro-Atlantic Integration, International Cooperation, and Peace and Security measures.
