On October 19, Emergency Response Center 112 received report that 5 scale storm was observed along Ajara coast line. In order to eradicate damage caused by the storm, Crises Management Operative Center was created in Batumi the coordination of which is performed by the Emergency Situations Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Center is also comprised of representatives of other MIA units and various services of the local municipality.
Due to the heavy raining, rivers have flooded the nearby rural areas in the region of Ajara. On the 20th km sector of Batumi-Akhaltsikhe highway, the river has damaged the road owning to which the road has become partially narrow. Officers of Ajara Regional Police Main Division are deployed on the ground at the moment, ready for conducting evacuation of the local population with police off-road vehicles.
In order to redress the situation, rescue teams of MIA Emergency Situations Management Department are mobilized in Ajara and Imereti regions with all necessary appliances and special technic in order to conduct joint rescue operations along with local emergency services.
